HISTORY:
The Senior Citizens group was originally formed approximately 15 years ago by the late Lily Morrow. They met weekly in the old Milltown Hall and engaged in a variety of things eg. music, dancing, light exercising and crafts. When the hall fell into disrepair Lily continued the weekly meetings in her own home up to the time of her illness and untimely death. The group then lapsed for a period of time but reformed again when the present committee was elected and our new resource centre was built. We have taken the Senior Citizens to the Cavan County Museum, St. Kilian’s Heritage Centre, Patrick Kavanagh Country in Monaghan, Belvedere House and Gardens, Dromard Railway, Sligo Folk Park, Ulster American Folk Park Omagh and Strokestown House and Famine Museum on annual outings over the past few years.
WHAT WE DO:
We organised an annual outing and dinner dance each year. Since February, 2006 we hold a social evening on the last Sunday of each month in the Community Centre, Milltown with a variety of entertainment for all the Senior Citizens in the Parish. Each year we have a Christmas Party at which we have a draw with prizes for everyone attending. We funded an Arts and Crafts class on Saturday afternoon between 2.30pm and 4.30pm up to Christmas 2007.
